DESCRIPTION:On April 8\, 2024\, North America will experience its second total solar eclipse in 7 years and\, yes\, the path of totality will be moving right through Ohio. After that\, it won’t be until 2044 that such an event will visit the lower 48 states again. If you are the right location at the right time\, you will experience over 4 minutes of totality (darkness). In this program\, you will come to better understand how a solar eclipse works and how to optimize your chances to view this event when the time comes. We will explore the path of totality as it moves across the United States and Ohio\, weather trends that may impact viewing\, safety\, observing tools\, and various ways to improve your chances to view the event. Gear will be provided for demonstration purposes\, but you are highly encouraged to bring your own gear to improve your hands-on experience. We will provide a few filtering devices to share\, however you are encouraged to bring your own treatment system so that you can practice on the tools you’ll actually be using once you hit the trail. Gear will be provided for demonstration purposes\, but you are highly encouraged to bring your own gear to improve your hands-on experience. The overnight trip will only be open to those who attend at least one class. Meet at Arrowhead picnic area unless otherwise stated.
