DESCRIPTION:A two day family-friendly festival featuring multiple performing stages presenting an array of upbeat folk/roots/Americana music\, kids’ & youth programming\, and 30+ music workshops (all levels). \nSaturday\, May 6 – 10:30am-5:30pm Festival\nThe 7pm Saturday night headliner is New-York based progressive folk/Americana band\, Nefesh Mountain\, a band hailed as one of today’s leading bands in pushing the boundaries of American roots music. They have recorded and shared the stage with Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Noam Pikelny (Punch Brothers) and Mark Schatz (Nickel Creek) to name just a few. They have played to sold-out audiences from Chicago to New York City and many places in between. \nOther offerings include two drum circles (one each day); a Festival Store\, Beer garden offering Nocterra craft beer. Food trucks on site. (Note: you are not permitted to bring your own alcohol onto Metro Park grounds). \nNEW this year are 4 ongoing jam tents\, each with a different style: folk-mix\, bluegrass\, old-time and a tent dedicated to serving the very beginner jammer. \nMore than 30 workshops on songwriting\, the history of folk music\, joining a jam group\, important musical figures\, and how to play guitar\, fiddle\, ukulele\, tin whistle\, and other instruments. DESCRIPTION:Take a 3-mile guided off-trail hike at the wetland to explore this part of the park that is usually closed to visitors. Please bring binoculars if you own them. Trail conditions are crushed gravel and unimproved with moderate hills. Expect off-trail conditions to include mud\, possible standing water (puddle-like) and uneven conditions in the wetland. Off-trail conditions near a wetland are unpredictable in the spring. Long pants\, hiking boots\, walking stick and tick repellant are encouraged. Please bring a flashlight for the return hike. \nMeeting Location notes: Oak Coves Picnic Area After entering the park\, Oak Coves Picnic area is first ROAD on the LEFT. Turn LEFT into the Oak Coves picnic area. Continue on the road to 3rd PARKING LOT. Naturalist will meet group near big playground.

DESCRIPTION:Join a naturalist for a mile hike around riverbluff to listen and look for birds. Terrain will be moderate\, but probably muddy. This hike will go on rain or shine\, so dress for conditions\, and prepare for mud. Tick repellant encouraged. Hike will be approx 1.5 hours. Bring binoculars. DESCRIPTION:Join a naturalist for a relaxing evening stroll on the Scenic River Trail to observe and learn about our May blooming wildflowers. Meet in Big Meadows picnic area next to restrooms. Hike will be approximately 1 mile in total\, along some paved surface as well as unimproved dirt trail. For ages 16+. Meet in the Big Meadows picnic area by the restrooms; orange Metro Parks program signs will guide towards the meeting location. \nMeeting location notes: Big Meadows Picnic Area Big Meadows picnic area is at the back of the park. After you enter the park\, take the main road down the hill. At the bottom of the hill\, take the ROAD on the LEFT. Park in the lot with a playground. Meet near restrooms.
