Parking can be found just south of the trailhead along the park entrance road; however, you can also park at the northern end of this trail here.

The Millstone Connector Trail at Rocky Fork Metro Park in Westerville, Ohio is an easy 0.5-mile one-way trail that runs parallel to the park road and links from Walnut Street to the Millstone Picnic Area. Connects to the Beech Woodland Trail and Bevelhymer Connector Trail. Dogs and biking are both allowed on this trail.

Parking can be found about 0.1 miles from the trailhead listed here. You can also park at the far end of the trail, which sits at the end of the park entrance road.

Scioto Greenway – 10 miles
Easy – ADA – Hike/Bike/Pets – Paved

The Scioto Greenway Trail is a 10-mile one-way trail that stretches through the heart of Columbus Ohio alongside the Scioto River and runs through Scioto Audubon Metro Park. It’s a great trail for commuting downtown.

The trail continues across the Scioto River, on the western shore, for a few extra miles, but that section is not displayed in the GPS data here. To get to that section of the trail, you can cross the river at West Main Street bridge or West Rich Street bridge. That portion of the trail runs south and north. The northern terminus of the western shore connects back with this main trail at the intersection of route 33 and route 315.

Metro Parks manages the trail from SR 104 north to Bicentennial Park, Veteran’s Memorial west to Souder Avenue, and Confluence Park west through Marble Cliff to Fifth Avenue.

Southwest

Camp Chase – 12.5 miles

The Camp Chase Trail at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park in Grove City, Ohio is a moderate 2-mile one-way trail that weaves through the park from Wilson Road in Madison County over to Alton Road near Galloway, Ohio. This trail is the west portion of the Ohio to Erie Trail, a multi-use recreation and transportation trail linking Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland. Metro Parks manages the Camp Chase Trail.

Dogs are also allowed on this trail.

Note: The entire Camp Chase Trail is 12.5-miles-long and runs along the Ohio to Erie Trail; however, this is just a small section that passed through the Metro Park.

Darby Creek Greenway Trail – 5 miles

The southern portion of the Darby Creek Greenway Trail at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park in Grove City, Ohio is a 5.1-mile one-way trail that leads from the main parking lot by the park office north to a small lollipop loop around a small pond. The trail is mostly flat and runs through the prairies and woods that intersects the two bison pastures. Metro Parks manages all of the Darby Creek Trail, including the northern section as well.

Dogs and biking are allowed on this trail.

The 3.5 mile one-way continuation of the Darby Creek Greenway Trail – North is located at Prairie Oaks Metro Park.

Darby Creek Greenway Trail – 3.5 miles

The northern section of the Darby Creek Greenway Trail in Prairie Oaks Metro Park in Hilliard, Ohio is an easy 3.5-mile one-way trail that links to various trails in the park. The trail runs from the northern part of the park, passing ponds and lakes, before reaching the outskirts of the park near I-70.

Parking can be found at the main parking lot at Prairie Oaks Metro Park, so if you plan to hike the entire trail, you may end up hiking closer to 5 miles than 3.5.

Dogs and biking are both allowed on this trail.

The continuation of the Darby Creek Greenway Trail – South is located in Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park.

The Multipurpose Trail at Scioto Grove Metro Park in Grove City, Ohio is an easy 1.2-mile one-way trail that loops around the outside of the park. For a 2-mile loop hike, you can head north at the end of the trail, passing through fields along a dirt road, to get back to parking. Dogs are allowed on this trail.

Blacklick Creek Greenway Trails – 16 miles

The Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail at Three Creeks Metro Park in Groveport, Ohio is an easy 16-mile one-way hike that weaves users through the scenic Blacklick Creek greenway corridor. Users of this trail can travel to several small parks from Reynoldsburg to Groveport and three Metro Parks: Pickerington Ponds, Blacklick Woods, and Three Creeks. Metro Parks manages all sections of the Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail, except for a short section north of Blacklick Woods Metro Park.

While the trail itself is long, the elevation gain is extremely short for 16 miles, at just over 350 feet in total.

Note: This trail only runs through a small part of Three Creeks Metro Park, but the easiest parking lot for this trail is found on the southern terminus at this park. The northern terminus ends/starts at JF Kennedy Park in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Multipurpose Trail – 2.8 miles

The Multipurpose Trail at Blacklick Woods Metro Park in Reynoldsburg, Ohio is an easy 2.8-mile one-way trail that passes through a forest and meadow. The trail starts off at the northern section of the park and heads south before turning and heading east. The trail will come to a fork, which loops back to itself. If you make it past the fork and complete the loop, you’ll end up doing 2.8 miles. If you plan to hike or ride the entire trail out-and-back, it’s closer to 4.4 miles long.

Metro Parks manages all sections of the Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail, except for a short section north of Blacklick Woods Metro Park.

Alum Creek Greenway – 24.5 miles

The Alum Creek Greenway Trail is a 24.5-mile one-way trail that runs from Three Creeks Metro Park in Groveport, Ohio and ends just north of Heritage Park in Westerville, Ohio. The trail runs alongside Alum Creek and crosses a 300-foot bridge below the confluence of the Alum, Big Walnut and Blacklick creeks. The northern segment of the trail extends 8.3 miles from Westerville south to the soccer fields at Easton Way. The middle segment runs about 2.5 miles from Innis Park south to Brittany Hills. The southern segment is 10.7 miles long and reaches from Airport Drive, near Ohio Dominican University, south to Three Creeks Park, where it meets the Blacklick Creek Trail.

There are also various small out-and-back spur trails that feed into the main trail. Dogs and biking are both allowed on this trail.

Note: While this trail is not only a part of Three Creeks Metro Park, it’s included under that park here. Only about 4.5 miles of the trail lies within Three Creeks Metro Park’s borders.

Sweetgum Trail – 2.6 miles

The Sweetgum Trail at Walnut Woods Metro Park in Groveport, Ohio is an easy 2.8-mile loop trail that runs around the Tall Pines Area and goes through stands of sweetgum and pine trees. In the middle of the outer loop is a short one-way spur trail that bisects the loop. You can use this trail as a way to increase or decrease the mileage for this trail. Dogs and biking are both allowed here.

Mountain Biking Trails

Metro Parks currently features a 9-mile Mountain Bike Trail (for mountain biking only) at Chestnut Ridge. The trail goes through the woods and provides a terrific workout for mountain bike enthusiasts of all abilities. The 12- to 18-inch-wide trail is on an all-natural surface and features a 230-foot change in elevation. A 5-mile inner loop is the beginner/intermediate trail and the outer 4-mile loop is the advanced trail.

The trail was designed and built by volunteers with the Central Ohio Mountain Bike Organization (COMBO). There is also a Pump Track, a loop of dirt berms and rollers, and great for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

There is also a rugged 0.75-mile mountain bike trail at Quarry Trails Metro Park, which can be accessed from the park entrance at 2600 Dublin Road, Columbus.
