Grange Insurance Audubon Center and Midwest Photo are thrilled to announce OUR NATURE IN FOCUS, a photography competition and exhibition that celebrates the beauty that resides in our Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks!
Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a passionate amateur, this is your chance to showcase your work in a stunning exhibition at Grange Insurance Audubon Center and compete for exciting prizes including cash awards, GIAC memberships, Canon gear, Midwest Photo gift cards, gifts from Metro Parks, and more!
Entry Period: November 1 – December 15, 2025
(photos uploaded online for judging after submitting payment)
Judging: January 3–9
Notification sent out to selected photographers: January 14–16
Delivery of accepted photos: January 27-29 to Grange Insurance Audubon Center
Exhibit Installation: February 2–4
Exhibition Dates: February 5 – March 29, 2026
Award Reception: February 5, 6–7:30pm
Winners will be announced at the Exhibition Award Reception!
Entry Categories: Professional ($15 per entry, up to three entries) Amateur ($10 per entry, up to three entries)
Submission Guidelines and Judging Criteria
Open to all photographers capturing scenes from Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.
Maximum size of photos selected for exhibit: 16″x20″
(must be framed and ready to hang/wire preferred)
Your submission will be judged by a panel of experts based on the following criteria:
Composition
Thoughtful framing, use of the rule of thirds, leading lines, balance and perspective.
Lighting
Effective use of natural light, time of day, shadows, highlights and exposure.
Focus & Sharpness
Clear subject, appropriate depth of field and intentional use of blur.
Creativity & Originality
Unique viewpoints, unexpected elements, or fresh interpretations of familiar scenes.
Mood & Atmosphere
Emotional tone conveyed through weather, lighting and subject matter.
Visual Impact
Immediate impression—does the image grab attention or evoke curiosity?
Harmony with Nature
A respectful and authentic reflection of the park’s natural beauty.
