Flying Squirrel Talk & Hike

January 21 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Southern flying squirrels are one of Ohio’s most populous and fascinating squirrels. They are not capable of true self powered flight, but rather, glide from tree to tree usinga skin membrane between their wrists and ankles called a patagium. Join the Highbanks Flying Squirrel Project on a public check of three of our squirrel boxes. We will meet at the Nature enter for a short powerpoint presentation before embarking on a 2 mile round trip hike to check the boxes. Entire program will be around 2 hours long, with hiking on crushed limestone, uneven terrain. Bringing water is recommended and dress for weather. Ages 5+

Meeting Location Notes: Highbanks Nature Center is the first right after entering the park. There is limited parking in the Nature Center lot on busy days.
