If you missed the five bison born at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, you’re in luck as one of the mammas gave birth to a calf on Friday, August 13. This brings the herd up to 12.

Head out to the Darby Creek Greenway Trail to watch the orangish-red calf who is never very far away from the watchful eye of its mother. Young bison are quite playful as they frolic about the field or roll around in the dirt.

Since 2011, when the first six bison arrived at Battelle Darby Creek from The Wilds, visitors have flocked to the park to see this majestic beast which had been absent from the Darby Plains for more than 200 years.
